Homemade Garlic Powder

Ingredients

  • Garlic cloves, as many as you'd like.
  • Tools: Dehydrator

Instructions

  1. Peel the garlic
  2. Thinly slice it 1/8" thick, if you have a mandoline, that's perfect.
  3. Spread in a single layer on dehydrator trays
  4. Dehydrate at 125 degrees.
  5. Your garlic is finished when it snaps. If it bends, it needs more time. Typically, this takes 8-10 hours.
  6. In batches, put the garlic slivers in a blender, food processor, or coffee grinder until powder.
  7. Store in an airtight container for up to a year.
If you don’t have a dehydrator, you can use your oven on its lowest heat setting; however, this method isn’t ideal as the garlic is more prone to burning and the higher temps denature the beneficial enzymes and antioxidants. A dehydrator is an incredible investment. This is an affordable option.
